PANEER BUTTER MASALA
Paneer butter masala is a popular vegetarian dish from India that's made with paneer (a type of cheese) cooked in a rich and creamy tomato-based gravy.
Here's a recipe to make it at home:
Ingredients:
- 250 grams paneer, cut into cubes
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
- 2 large tomatoes, pureed
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/4 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon garam masala powder
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- Salt, to taste
- Chopped coriander leaves, for garnish
Instructions:
- In a pan, heat 2 tablespoons of butter and sauté the paneer cubes until golden brown. Remove from the pan and keep them aside.
- In the same pan, add another tablespoon of butter and sauté the finely chopped onions until they turn translucent.
- Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the pan and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the tomato puree to the pan and stir well. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.
- Add coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and garam masala powder to the pan and mix well.
- Add heavy cream to the pan and stir until well combined.
- Add salt to taste and mix well.
- Add the sautéed paneer cubes to the pan and gently mix them with the gravy.
- Cover the pan and let the paneer cook in the gravy for 2-3 minutes.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with roti, naan, or rice.
