CHIKKEN TIKKA MASALA
Chicken tikka masala is a popular Indian dish made with grilled or baked chicken pieces in a creamy tomato-based sauce.
Here is a recipe for making chicken tikka masala:
Ingredients:
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp ginger paste
- 1 tbsp garlic paste
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp garam masala
- Chopped cilantro, for garnish
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, whisk together the yogurt, lemon juice, vegetable oil, ginger paste, garlic paste, salt, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and cayenne pepper.
- Add the chicken pieces to the marinade and mix well to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F. Thread the chicken pieces onto skewers and place them on a baking sheet lined with foil. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and slightly charred on the edges.
- While the chicken is cooking, heat some oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent, about 5-7 minutes. Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute.
- Add the crushed tomatoes to the skillet and bring to a simmer. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Reduce the heat to low and add the heavy cream and garam masala to the skillet. Stir well and let the sauce simmer for an additional 5-7 minutes.
- Once the chicken is done, remove it from the skewers and add it to the skillet with the sauce. Stir well to coat the chicken with the sauce.
- Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan bread.
