CHIKKEN TIKKA MASALA

Chicken tikka masala is a popular Indian dish made with grilled or baked chicken pieces in a creamy tomato-based sauce.

Here is a recipe for making chicken tikka masala:

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp ginger paste
  • 1 tbsp garlic paste
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • Chopped cilantro, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the yogurt, lemon juice, vegetable oil, ginger paste, garlic paste, salt, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and cayenne pepper.
  2. Add the chicken pieces to the marinade and mix well to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours.
  3. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Thread the chicken pieces onto skewers and place them on a baking sheet lined with foil. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and slightly charred on the edges.
  4. While the chicken is cooking, heat some oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent, about 5-7 minutes. Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute.
  5. Add the crushed tomatoes to the skillet and bring to a simmer. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Reduce the heat to low and add the heavy cream and garam masala to the skillet. Stir well and let the sauce simmer for an additional 5-7 minutes.
  7. Once the chicken is done, remove it from the skewers and add it to the skillet with the sauce. Stir well to coat the chicken with the sauce.
  8. Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan bread.
