TOMATO RASAM| KERALA STYLE| RASAM

INGREDIENTS

2 Tomatoes

1/2 Onion

3-4 Garlic cloves

Small Part Asafoetida/ Hing/ Kayyam

1/2 Mustard Seeds

1/2 tsp Pepper Powder

1 tsp Chilly Powder

1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder

1/2 tsp Coriander Powder

1 Cup Water

1 tsp Salt

1/2 cup Curry Leaves

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Roughly chop 2 medium sized tomatoes.Take a mixer jar, add chopped tomatoes and few garlic cloves and make a smooth paste. Keep aside.





  2. In a pan, add 1/2 tsp mustard seeds. To it add 1/2 chopped onions.Saute for couple of minutes.





  3. Now add prepared tomato puree to the pan and 1 cup water. mix well.



  4. Add 1/2 tsp pepper powder, 1 tsp salt,1 tsp chilly powder, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp coriander powder and small part of asafoetida/hing. Mix well.



  5. Let it boil for few minutes. Add curry leaves.



  6. Serve hot with plain rice.
