AGASTHYA DAAL | HEALTHY DAAL RECIPE
Agasthya Daal... This daal is made mainly using an ingredient named Agastya Flower also called Agastya Cheera. This Agastya Flower/ Agastya Cheera we get it from Agastya Tree which is very much medicinal in all aspects. Flowers, leaves and its pods from the tree can be used for cooking.
Without stretching it too long, i would like to direct you straight to the recipe, which is very tasty and healthy curry and is a good combination with Chappathi, Rice and Dosa as well.

INGREDIENTS
- Agasthya Flower- 1 Bowl
- Toovar Dal- 1/2 Cup
- Onion- 1
- Shallot- 10 to 15 nos
- Tomato- 1
- Ginger- 1/2
- Garlic- 10 to 11 cloves
- Grated Coconut- 1/2 Cup
- Mustard Seeds- 1 tsp
- Cumin Seeds- 1/2 Tsp
- Curry Leaves- 2 pods
- Hing/ Asafoetida- Small part
- Turmeric- 1 tsp
- Red Chilli Powder- 2 tsp
- Coriander Powder- 1 tsp
- Salt- To Taste
- Oil- 2 tbsp
INSTRUCTIONS
- In a pressure cooker, add washed 1/2 Cup of Toovar Daal, roughly chopped 1 Onion, 1 tomato, 5 to 6 garlic pods and ginger, few chillies, 1.5 cup water, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, one small part of Asafoetida/ Hing and 2 tsp Chilly Powder.
- Close the Pressure Cooker and Cook till 4 whistles. Keep it aside.
- Take one bowl of Agasthya Flower and chop nicely after removing its stem.
- In a pan, add 2 tbsp Oil. Add 1/2 tsp of mustard seed. After it crackles, add 1/2 tsp of cumin seeds and few curry leaves. Then add chopped shallots , and chillies to it .
- Thereafter add chopped Agasthya Flower and remaining chopped ginger garlic to it and cook for 10 mins, until it becomes soft.
- Add Grated Coconut, Salt, 1 tsp Coriander powder to it. Cook for another 5 minutes.
- Now take the cooked daal , mash it nicely and pour into the above preparation.
- Let it boil for more 5-10 mins.
